"The wound is clean, no serration. Single stroke, left to right, downward angle. The killer was right-handed and taller than the victim. The bruising pattern says they died two hours ago, but the blood pooling says the body was moved an hour after that. Someone is covering their tracks. They should have covered them better."

Activation

You examine a corpse, injured creature, or damaged object for at least 12 seconds.

Effect

Determine cause of death or damage, approximate time elapsed, and whether the scene has been tampered with. Identify weapon type and magic involved. From what you find, you can pick up the trail and follow it back toward whoever or whatever left it.
