Locations are the regions, settlements, and sites of Valdaria.
The six regions
Valdaria is home to six regions, each with its own people and patron faith. Each region is also a culture your character can hail from at character creation.
| Region | People | Patron faith |
|---|---|---|
| Kefa Dominion | A desert empire of horse lords and monarchs | Drahn, the Sundered King |
| Tirith Aur | A militant theocracy ruled by a living god | Ion, the Living God |
| Solthir | Isolationist high elves of radiant forests | Ivyra, Queen of the Fae |
| Draknar | Brutal yet honorable clans of the frozen coasts | Kavaru, the Goremother |
| Uldrun | Dwarven mountain cities of unmatched metalcraft | Thokrimmar, the Molten Core |
| Honeyfolk | Pastoral halfling lands of quiet resilience | Brrok, the Walking Mountain |
The world map
The world map is an illustrated chart of Valdaria, drawn from whole regions down to single streets and the rooms inside buildings, and every place drawn on it is a real location you can travel to, as described on Travel.
- Fog of war. Ground you have not explored is covered and shows only a painted outline, and it clears as you travel. Walking clears a band along your path, and you see further across open plains, hills and water than through forest or wetland. Entering a settlement or another small place clears it whole.
- Secret places. Some places stay covered and unnamed on your map until you have walked into them once.
- Interiors. A roofed building shows its roof until you step inside, and then the roof lifts away to show the rooms around you.
- Map icons. Settlements, dungeons, ruins and other landmarks are marked from far out, shops, temples, caves and lairs appear as you zoom in, and farms, wells and other small places appear closest in.
- Character tokens. Characters appear on the map as tokens. Up to eight characters close enough for you to make out, a distance that grows with your Wisdom and Perception, show their portraits, nearest first, while everyone else shows as a plain marker and nobody under fog is shown.
Settlements and sites
The settlements, camps, and ruins inside each region are yours to discover in play, and the groups that hold them decide how you are received, as described on Factions.
