Characters
Characters are the people and creatures of Valdaria, from the character you play to everyone you meet on the road.
Your character
You create your character before your first scene, as described on Character creation, choosing a lineage, a class, a culture, a faith, and a recent past, along with a bond that names someone you care about and a purpose that drives you forward. Your lineage comes from the races of your mother and father, and five peoples are open to you, the Human, the Elf, the Dwarf, the Halfling, and the Half-Elf. Your choices shape how the world receives you and how your story begins.
See Faiths of Valdaria for the faiths you can keep, Attributes for your character's core scores, and Progression for how your character grows.
The characters you meet
The game plays every other character in the world, from shopkeepers and garrison guards to the beasts of the wild. Most belong to a group of some kind, and they treat you by where you stand with that group rather than only by what they saw you do. See Factions for how standing works.
Characters you win over will trade with you, shelter you, and fight beside you, and some will join your Party and travel at your side. Turn a group against you and its members close their doors as one. See Merchants for trade and Rest for shelter.
Voiced NPCs
NPCs and companions speak in distinct voices, and you can tap a speaking character's portrait in chat to replay their dialogue.
In the audio controls, the Narration setting lets you switch between Narrator + NPC voices and NPC voices only. Speech highlighting follows the words as they play when enabled.
If a voice does not fit a character, right-click the character and report it so we can fix it.
