Alpha 0.0.30a is a game update released on 1 September 2026. A quality-of-life patch with character creation presets, rebalanced armor and experience, mid-cycle subscription upgrades, and a round of hotfixes.

New Features

  • Character Quick Start: Character creation now offers presets you can select to jump straight into the game. Each preset picks your class, subclass, and starting gear. Custom creation is still available.
  • Mid-Cycle Upgrade: You can now upgrade your subscription at any time during your billing cycle. The remaining value of your current plan is applied as prorated credits toward the new one.

Balance Changes

  • The character experience curve has been adjusted, allowing you to level up faster across all levels. Skill experience is unchanged.
  • Armor has been rebalanced. Damage reduction now scales with the attacker's level as well as the size of each hit, so armor stays effective at every level instead of tapering off at higher levels.
  • Armor is now more resistant against penetrating effects.
  • Shops in smaller settlements now stock rare and better gear far more often than before.
  • Sundown, Zenith, and the Midsummer Sunstone now carry their full four affix rows, matching every other legendary.
  • Hostile bosses now more actively attack you and your party instead of focusing on bystanders.

General Improvements

  • When an action you attempt is impossible, you now receive a set of alternative actions to choose from instead of a flat refusal.
  • Added Twinblade as a craftable finesse two-handed weapon type.
  • Added more craftable food items.
  • Crafting confirmations now show the specific skill level needed to unlock the next rarity tier.
  • Improved long playthrough performance on mobile devices.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where a party attack could resolve as pure narration with invented damage while no actual strikes landed.
  • Fixed a bug where enemies staged in a fight could not be targeted because they had not been spawned into the scene.
  • Fixed a bug where multi-die bonus damage rolls landed all their dice on the same number, so effects like Sneak Attack always hit their lowest or highest value instead of varying normally.
  • Fixed a bug where the party level cap was bypassed when an NPC held the leader role, allowing companions far above your level to join.
  • Fixed a bug where companions were refused from joining your party based on their creature type instead of their level.
  • Fixed a bug where Aggravated Bleeding could not be removed or mitigated by any means, draining health until death with no counterplay.
  • Fixed a bug where an NPC craftsman's skill level dropped every time they performed a commission, eventually capping all their work at Uncommon.
  • Fixed a bug where a temper delegated to a named craftsman was performed using your own skill instead of theirs.
  • Fixed a bug where opening the tempering panel on a commissioned item replaced the maker's skill with yours.
  • Fixed a bug where naming a skill on a crafting request was ignored, so asking to practice Crafting could open a Potions check instead.
  • Fixed a bug where a successful transmute showed a warning claiming the game could not resolve all your actions.
  • Fixed a bug where firing a single arrow or bolt destroyed the entire equipped stack.
  • Fixed a bug where the Narrator rephrased an item's name during a trade or handover, causing it to target the wrong item and fail silently.
  • Fixed a bug where handing an item to a companion could trigger a false refusal claiming the item was never given, while the item had already left your pack.
  • Fixed a bug where asking a companion to hand you an item kept reopening their pack panel instead of performing the transfer.
  • Fixed a bug where looting several items from a corpse failed entirely if one item could not be transferred, instead of delivering the rest.
  • Fixed a bug where harvesting a creature could yield materials from a completely different creature type.
  • Fixed a bug where an epic item shown before confirmation displayed with empty prefix slots and full temper count instead of its final stats.
  • Fixed a bug where an NPC reward payout failed silently when the NPC's purse was empty.
  • Fixed a bug where a purchase request paired with another action in the same message was repeatedly rejected.
  • Fixed a bug where interacting with the sidebar or effects panel while the Narrator was writing could crash the page, forcing a reload.
  • Fixed a bug where the effects card multiplied a party attack's damage display, showing far more damage than was actually dealt.
  • Fixed a bug where a dual-affinity reagent's card showed both affinities instead of the one it locked into, and listed the wrong family's affixes.
  • Fixed a bug where a valid skill check was incorrectly rejected as impossible.
  • Fixed a bug where small shifts could cross alignment boundaries without notice.
  • Fixed a bug where characters moved in narration without their map position updating.
  • Fixed a bug causing character creation to fail.
  • Fixed a bug where NPCs could hand out gold from an unlimited source instead of paying from their own purse.
  • Fixed a bug where a potion poured on an ally healed you instead of them.
  • Fixed a bug where spawned creatures could arrive carrying gear with no stats.
  • Fixed a bug where a single undo could revert every action back to your last typed message, including confirmed crafts.
  • Fixed a bug where a craft refused a reagent you were holding because its name was misread, paying you crafting experience while costing and producing nothing.
  • Fixed a bug where crafting difficulty was priced far higher than the materials justified, so modest crafts asked for extreme difficulty rolls.
  • Fixed a bug where a critical success on a loot check still paid only a single gold and dropped the item the roll was for.
  • Fixed a bug where giving a companion a second one-handed weapon was refused even when their off hand was empty.
  • Fixed a bug where mundane items like coin purses spawned at Uncommon rarity and inflated prices.
  • Fixed a bug where an attack would be registered narratively but not mechanically, most often when made alongside a successful roll.
  • Fixed a bug where the game could stay stuck in combat after the fight was already over.
  • Fixed a bug where attacking enemies you had never traveled with could count as betraying your party and shift your alignment.
  • Fixed a bug where an NPC you sent somewhere would walk back to your side after acknowledging the request.
  • Fixed a bug where an enemy with a bow, spell, or other ranged attack waited at range instead of firing when it could see you.
  • Fixed a bug where a character who refused to join your party could never be persuaded, so a companion who said no once said no forever.
  • Fixed a bug where the narrator claimed a blessing or ritual changed your weapon's damage type when nothing actually changed.
  • Fixed a bug where epic gear crafted from a signature material arrived with all prefix slots empty.
