Alpha 0.0.27 is a game update released on 24 June 2026. This patch adds resting, reworks feats and classes, and updates combat.
Feats & Classes
We have reworked feats across every class, subclass, and skill to give Warrior and Rogue a stronger class identity. If any of your selected feats were affected, they've been unassigned so you can reselect them.
- Some feats are now abilities you trigger yourself from the chat, like a Barbarian dropping into Rage.
- Most skill feats now trigger much more reliably, and some have been rebalanced to limited uses per rest.
- See the full breakdown of every class and skill feat change on the Alpha 0.0.27 feat changes page.
Warrior
- Dual wield any one-handed weapon, bash with a shield, and a stronger Second Wind that recharges on a Long Rest.
- Knight: Hold a shield to block incoming hits and grant nearby allies standing armor that scales with your level.
- Barbarian: Rage now activates to boost damage, halve physical damage taken, and frighten enemies, plus feats to dual wield two-handed weapons.
Rogue
- Gains Sneak Attack, dealing bonus damage when you strike from stealth with a finesse or ranged weapon.
- Assassin: Strikes from stealth for much more damage and far more crits, executes weakened foes from certain stealth attacks, and sets off all of a target's bleeds at once.
- Thief: Kills from stealth to vanish and re-hide, disarms targets, and flanks an ally's target for advantage.
Short and Long Rest
- Added Short Rest (1-4 hours) for partial healing, and Long Rest (~8 hours) to fully heal the party and clear fatigue.
- You now build fatigue from traveling, going long stretches without sleep, and dropping to critical health.
- You can now see the lingering injuries you've accrued, which clear on a Long Rest or with healing.
- Eating during a rest is optional, but a meal grants the party a buff and extra healing that scale with the food's rarity.
- Where you make camp can grant the party a buff or debuff, scaling with your Resting skill.
Dual Wielding
- You can now equip a weapon in your off hand, any character can dual wield light weapons like daggers.
- When you dual wield, every attack now hits with both your main hand and off hand, and a Warrior with a shield bashes alongside their main weapon.
- Wielding heavier weapons in the off hand is unlocked through certain class feats.
Combat
- Enemies now spread their attacks across the party by proximity, threat, and vulnerability, instead of focusing fire on just the player.
- Added physical resistance (slashing, blunt, and piercing) to certain enemies.
- All characters including the player now close the distance in combat based on movement speed, instead of snapping into range with every attack.
Crafting
- Crafting could previously bypass item level and modifier limits, letting low level gear pile on oversized bonuses to health, carrying capacity, evasion, and more.
- We have closed that loophole and are bringing gear you already own in line with these limits, so some crafted items will have their inflated bonuses trimmed back.
Note: More exciting crafting changes are on the way in an upcoming patch, with more reliable effects and clearer progression!
New places to explore in Valdaria, interface updates, and a batch of fixes.
New Content in Valdaria
- Added new low and mid level content across the Torial Grazeland, and smoothed out the early difficulty curve.
- Atzkal Caer Ruins: The ruins beneath Fort Vaelor have been rebuilt from the stone up. Mind the tumbling rocks!
- Witherwold Mansion: The estate has been refreshed. Its residents are delighted to receive guests, perhaps a little too delighted?
Interface
- Characters and lore that are part of the world's canon now carry a small mark indicating they are 'Valdaria Canon', so you can tell them apart from ones the Narrator creates dynamically.
- Updated the class selection screen to show each class's starting weapon and subclasses.
- A Narrator's Note now appears ocassionaly to explain the game's rules when you try certain actions.
- Travel requests now let you note how you want to travel, and show your encounter chance on the way.
- When several nearby characters share a title, the game now tells them apart so you target the right one.
General Improvements
- The Narrator now better understands the game's rules and more reliably answers your questions about them. We are also working on a better OOC system for a future patch.
- Paying an NPC to upgrade an item now more often improves it.
- Some items can now be used several times before they run out, instead of being consumed after a single use.
- You can now trade with and give items to multiple characters at once, and each handout shows who it's going to. Looting multiple characters will follow in a hotfix shortly.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where an NPC refused to use their ranged weapon.
- Fixed a bug where an NPC dealt a weak punch instead of their weapon's full damage.
- Fixed a bug where you could endlessly loot a living NPC or dismantle equipment to duplicate items and materials, or an NPC offered items they weren't carrying.
- Fixed a bug where some equipped gear didn't apply its effects to party members.
- Fixed a bug where the Narrator could misrepresent a failed or successful roll.
- Fixed a bug where a dismissed or departed NPC kept returning to the scene.
- Fixed a bug where a relationship change could display in the reverse direction.
- Fixed a bug where relationship changes could overlap and become hard to read on mobile.
- Fixed a bug where some characters moved unusually far and saw much farther while in water.
- Fixed a bug where you could tag minor feats that are meant to stay hidden.
- Fixed a bug where some items showed a placeholder price and trader name.
- Fixed a bug where carrying capacity could display incorrectly and leave you stuck encumbered.
- Fixed a bug where a dice roll totaling zero left the roll spinning forever.
- Fixed a bug where a defeated NPC could still be described as fighting.
- Fixed a bug where several attackers using the same move could stack their hits under one name in the combat log.
- Fixed a bug where your killing blow could show up separately from the attack that caused it.
- Fixed a bug where a status effect could display a meaningless one-word description.
