Alpha 0.0.21 is a game update released on 19 May 2026. This patch adds Religion at character creation, awards XP from kills, rebalances NPC power, and temporarily disables spellcasting while we build the new Magic system.
Religion
- Choose a faith when you create your character. Your religion appears on your character sheet
- All NPCs now have their own faith, and it influences how they speak and act toward you, especially when your religion clashes with or aligns with theirs.
- Praying to your deity in desperate moments can grant brief aid. Don't expect miracles, though.
Slayer
- Defeating creatures now grants Slayer skill experience and character XP, this scales with how tough the enemy is.
- Tougher creatures are worth more. Elites, bosses, and other high-tier enemies reward significantly more XP than regular ones.
- You still earn Slayer XP when a party member lands the killing blow, so group fights count toward your progression.
Magic System Update
- Spellcasting is temporarily disabled while we build the new Magic system. Spells you attempt to cast will fizzle. A dedicated Magic system with proper progression is on the way.
- Elemental and other damage types from gear and items still work as normal. Weapons that deal ice or fire damage, artifacts that have innate magic, and similar item effects are fully allowed. The restriction only applies to your character personally casting spells.
- NPCs can still cast magic appropriate for their power level. The upcoming Magic system will apply to them as well in the future.
Balance Changes
- Item Level Scaling: Items now scale based on where they come from. Merchant inventory matches the merchant's level, gear you craft matches your character level, and loot matches the enemy or container it came from.
- NPC Power Rebalance: Creature HP and damage now match their size and tier. Tiny rats or low-level goblins no longer take multiple turns to kill.
- The Narrator more reliably catches actions outside a skill's scope, including impossible dice rolls. We are still tuning this, so let us know if a roll you think should be possible is incorrectly handled by the Narrator.
A Note on Feedback
- If something goes wrong, right-click the specific message where it happened and tap thumbs down. Tagging the exact message helps us find and fix the issue much faster than a general report.
- Your feedback in Discord has been great and we really appreciate it. More is always welcome!
