Alpha 0.0.18 is a game update released on 3 May 2026. This patch augments our Narrator AI models, improves how chat reveals scenes, and fixes movement bugs.
New Narrator Models
- We are testing a few new Narrator models. Scenes should hold together better, dialogue should stay on topic, and in-scene events like movement and items changing hands should now be more accurate. We'd love your feedback!
Chat & Dialogue
- Added smoother text streaming during narration.
- NPCs you have not met yet are referred to with visual context without revealing their names.
- Multi-character dialogues are now grouped by speaker and formatted more clearly, with pauses between beats.
Interface
- Your health globe now displays animations and indicators when your character is affected by in-game effects like damage, burns, heals, and buffs.
- Added a character level summary card that shows your progress toward the next level in the skills tab.
- NPC level badges are now color-coded by difficulty relative to your character's level.
- The equipment effects section is now more compact and readable.
- Added automatic chat scrolling, this can be toggled in the chat controls.
- The item exchange interface now shows the reason a trade is happening.
- Gameplay status effects now show who applied each effect and what dealt the damage. Toggle between this view and the simple pill view from the arrow icon.
- The item exchange interface now warns you if the action would make you encumbered.
- The death screen now shows your final stats and time survived.
- You can check your remaining credits from the credit button in the profile dropdown.
- Temporarily disabled the Compendium. We are reworking it and will bring it back with more features in a future patch.
- Temporarily disabled the Ammunition equipment slot.
Deeper into Valdaria
- Added many new portraits for fae, demonic, dragon, and other creature characters. Existing NPCs and creatures of these types now have more fitting and varied images.
- Added new events, lore, and content scattered across the world to discover.
General Improvements
- Travel encounters now pull from a wider pool of characters and creatures that fit the area.
- Most newly spawned characters will now have a portrait appropriate for their appearance. Let us know in #feedback-bugs if you encounter an NPC with a smoky or missing portrait.
- Improved performance for mobile players during longer playthroughs.
Balance Changes
- Gold now weighs much less, so carrying large amounts no longer encumbers your character.
- Player character health pool distribution has been adjusted.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where moving between subzones could fling your character far across the map.
- Fixed a bug where the Narrator's response could cut off partway through.
- Fixed a bug where character size was ignored during movement, causing creatures to clip through tight spaces or stack on the same tile.
- Fixed a bug where in-scene events written into narration could fail to register, skipping parts of the scene.
- Fixed a bug where the game could kill the player character incorrectly.
- Fixed a bug where being overly encumbered could put your character at 1 health.
- Fixed a bug where the movement interface would show "player" instead of your character's name.
- Fixed a bug where leveling up did not increase your character's maximum health.
- Fixed a bug where NPC levels were not displayed on their portraits during dialogue.
- Fixed a bug where consuming items did not always apply the intended buff or debuff.
*Note: You may encounter some bugs during streaming, we're working on resolving these in upcoming hotfixes!*
